When stepping into the role of an influencer, there are a couple of essential rules to keep in mind. Influencing is not just about posting content when you feel like it. It’s about consistent effort, a strategy, and the long game. If your goal is to make a career out of it, or even just grow your influence as part of your personal brand, understanding these rules is key.

The first rule is simple: stay active. The digital world moves quickly, and your audience expects regular content. If you go silent for too long, they’ll move on to someone else. You have to maintain a presence. This doesn’t mean you need to churn out content every hour, but regular updates are a must. Many will tell you that daily content isn’t absolutely necessary but we’ve found that the more you post, the better your chances of gaining an audience.

Content production is the low hanging fruit for growth in all forms of media. The more content on your page, the better. The trick is finding a balance that works for both you and your audience. Whether it’s daily posts, weekly videos, or frequent stories, keeping your content fresh is essential to staying relevant. Your followers come to you for insight, opinions, or entertainment, and that’s a relationship you need to nurture by consistently delivering.

There will be days when you feel stuck, or when inspiration is nowhere to be found. That’s normal, but it doesn’t mean you can take a break. Content doesn’t always have to be groundbreaking. It can be personal anecdotes, reactions to current events, or shout-outs to other creators. What matters is showing up. Even if it feels like you have nothing new to say, find ways to engage with your community. Keep conversations going. In the world of influencing, disappearing for long stretches means losing momentum, and that’s hard to get back.
